Three-Dimensional Echocardiography With DVD by Franke

Description
Three-dimensional echocardiography is the most recent fundamental advancement in echocardiography with a strong impact on almost all clinical and research applications of echocardiography. After a very successful 1st edition, this book presents the fully revised 2nd edition. Accounting for the marked progress of real-time 3D echocardiography since the 1st edition it covers all clinically important aspects of this fascinating new technology, including a comprehensive explanation of its basic principles, practical aspects of clinical application, new recommendations in recent guidelines and detailed descriptions of specific uses in the broad spectrum of clinically important heart disease. The book was written by a group of well-recognized international experts in the field, who have not only been involved in scientific and clinical evolution of 3D echocardiography since its beginnings but are also intensely involved in expert training courses. As a result, the clear focus of this book is on the practical application of 3D echocardiography in daily clinical routine with tips and tricks for both beginners and experts, all accompanied by more than 150 case examples comprehensively illustrated with more than 850 images and more than 500 videos available on a DVD. In concert with an in-depth review and comprehensive update of the most recent literature on real-time 3D echocardiography, this book continues to represent an invaluable reference on 3D echocardiography for beginners and expert users.

The ESC Textbook of Intensive and Acute Cardiovascular Care by Marco Tubaro, Pascal Vranckx

Description
The ESC Textbook of Intensive and Acute Cardiovascular Care is the official textbook of the Acute Cardiovascular Care Association (ACCA) of the ESC. This new updated edition continues to comprehensively approach all the different issues relating to intensive and acute cardiovascular care. The textbook is addressed to all those involved in intensive and acute cardiac care, from cardiologists to emergency physicians and healthcare professionals. The chapters cover the various acute cardiovascular diseases that need high quality intensive treatment, but also organisational issues, cooperation among professionals, and interaction with other specialities in medicine.

The largest section of the textbook is devoted to non-cardiac disease which could acutely involve the cardiovascular system. Other noteworthy chapters are on ethical issues - which are so important in acute cardiac care, such as patient safety, donor organ management and palliative care. A unique characteristic of the textbook is the presence of a whole section devoted to biomarkers, which underline the growing importance of laboratory medicine in the field of intensive and acute cardiac care.

A particular asset of the textbook is the digital version available on Oxford Medicine Online, which has additional online features including an extra chapter on lung ultrasound and many more images and videos, as well as a full list of references from all chapters. The online version is updated by the same authors on a yearly basis and is available with the print version and separately on a subscription basis, allowing easy access to content in digital and mobile optimised format. The textbook aligns directly with the core training curriculum for ACCA.

The book addresses the scope of cardiac catheterization and catheter-based interventions that have
increased by leaps and bounds over the past fifty years. Thorough background knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy, physiology and hemodynamics is required by the operators. We have therefore discussed these essentials in many chapters. Each chapter/set of chapters is arranged in an organized format, starting with a concise discussion of the lesion(s), followed by indications, procedural details, precautions and potential pitfalls. Contributions from a wide range of experts are amalgamated in the book. The goal has been to address a wide range of procedures/interventions available for a diverse group of diseases or defects. New emerging procedures and future directions for valvular diseases are also discussed. The book offers the spectrum of cardiac catheterization and catheter-based interventions from pediatric to geriatrics. It covers literally the scope of these procedures from ‘womb to tomb’. It is intended as a practical guide for the interventional treatment of congenital, structural heart disease, coronary and peripheral vascular diseases to be used by invasive pediatric and adult cardiologists. Wherever possible, an attempt has been made to emphasize practical aspects related to procedures; such as patient selection, absolute and relative indications, contraindications and potential complications. Some of the procedures discussed in the book are emerging techniques in the forefront of interventional cardiology, and may not be practiced in every cardiac catheterization laboratory. These represent the expertise of selected interventional cardiologists from around the world. The goal has also been to share clinical experiences in order to provide a practical procedural reference guide to catheter laboratory staff at all levels. We hope to offer guidance in acquiring these skills, while sharing the experience of using these techniques. Diagnostic catheterization only is as good as the accuracy of the acquired data and since all the interpretations are based on it. The information contained in the book is free from bias. The fundamental concepts and recommendations are based on evidence-based data, clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed research. It also represents an accumulation of knowledge, techniques and procedures that have been learned, utilized and/or developed by various experienced cardiologists with rich experiences in teaching cardiac catheterization and interventions.
